Dr. Jong Kyung Kim appointed KAERI president
Dr. Jong Kyung Kim, a professor of nuclear engineering department at Hanyang University in Korea, was appointed as president of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). Dr. Kim took office on January 27, 2014 and his 3 year term of office will continue until January 2017.
Dr. Kim graduated from the State of University of New York at Buffalo in 1980 and received his master¡¯s and doctoral degrees in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan in 1982 and 1986, respectively.
He previously served as a member of the governor¡¯s boards at the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS), president the Asian and Oceanic Association for Radiation Protection (AOARP), and a member of the national nuclear energy commission and nuclear energy promotion committee.
He is currently the president of the Korean Nuclear Society (KNS) and member of the Nuclear Safety Review Board (NSRB) of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) of the UAE.
He has a wealth of professional career experience in the field of radiation safety.
He automaticcally became an ex officio member of board of directors of Korea Nuclear International Cooperation Foundation(KONICOF) and was also elected as chairman of the board on March.
